Lloyds Bank

Handy shortcut from the high street to the library through here

A lovely branch with great decor, but unfortunately the queues are often out-of-control.

The Co-op Bank - Exeter

242 High St, Exeter EX4 3QB, UK – 01392 499697

Very friendly and helpful staff. All willing to do everything they can to help, above and beyond the standard.

I bank with BNP Paribas in France, HSBC in USA, ANZ in Australia, Hong Leong in Malaysia and COOP in UK. No bank beats the COOP! Their customer service, competitiveness of product offerings and ethical policy are literally wold-class.

Barclays Bank - Exeter High St

3 Bedford Street, Exeter EX1 1LX, UK – 0345 734 5345

Local Chambers of Commerce for EX1 1SE with contact details and location maps. These can be an extraordinarily effective way of getting into the business community and / or getting things done. Equally they can be entirely useless depending on the chair. If they have networking events associated with them definitely go, and keep going, if you have a business that need local support. What you put in is exactly what you get out.

Exeter Guildhall

High St, City Centre, Exeter EX4 3EB, UK – 01392 665500

One of the oldest buildings in Exeter and the oldest guildhall building in use in England. Extensively changed over the years inside, around the back you can still see the old prison cells.

The guildhall is a pretty good place to go shopping. There are also refreshments availbale in the centre and sometimes near whsmiths

Dental Surgeries

The Exeter Dental Centre

17 Castle St, Exeter EX4 3PT, UK – 01392 272350

Exeter Dental are the best dentist practice I have ever joined and I am "old in the tooth" with a lot of history with numerous dentists. All of the staff care for you and no matter how nervous or worried you may be, they will help you attain the highest level of attention. I am fortunate to have the best dentist I have ever met and he delivers beyond the norm. If you are looking for a new dentist then Exeter Dental Centre should be your one and only choice.

The Exeter Dental Centre was quick, clean and efficient but with smiling faces and even a comfortable waiting room. The dentist, Mr Sleigh and his assistant (whom I unfortunately didn't catch the name of) were wonderfully kind and did a fantastic job in fixing my chipped tooth. Thank you very much. P.S prices were extremely reasonable as well

Barnfield Dental Studio

10 Barnfield Hill, Exeter EX1 1SR, UK – 01392 423668

No one really likes going to the dentist if their honest, however, Barnfield Dental Studio make you feel at ease and fully explains what they are doing to you before the treat you! Barnfield have a great team in Ruan & Dalene running the practise I would highly recommend their services.

Life Dental & Wellbeing

31 Queen St, Exeter EX4 3SR, UK – 01392 278843

The best dentist ever. I have gone from a complete neurotic wreck at my former dentist to almost looking forward to my appointments. Good advice, great treatment from check ups to root canals. Also fab with children. Can't recommend highly enough.

Cannot praise Ben and his team enough. The new practise is very smart and makes you feel really at ease, it doesnt feel like the typical scary dentist's waiting room! I havent had a check up for three years but Ben and Hannah made me feel really comfortable. I felt very informed throughout my check up and that Ben was very through and knowledgeable. Absolutely superb all round.

Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital

Barrack Rd, Exeter EX2 5DW, UK – 01392 411611

I opted to go to Exeter as my local hospital lost my referral for the 3rd time. Best choice I have ever made. I needed some corrections to plastic surgery and my experience at Exeter has been outstanding. I have received appointments exactly when they were due. I have been treated by staff as if I was a member of their family but also professional and compassionately. I have experienced staff go out of there way to show me where to go and seen them show genuine concern at discharging someone without someone to care for them. I have a lot of respect for all hospital staff and I have experienced several hospitals even private ones none has impressed me as much. Keep up the brilliant work. I am thrilled by my results from surgery. Thank you.

THANK YOU R D & E HOSPITAL FOR YOUR EXCELLENT SERVICE. I arrived at the hospital today for eye laser surgery at 10.00 am. I was seen immediately, had an eye test, followed by an eye scan, followed by a full examination with the consultant followed by the eye laser surgery. All was satisfactorily completed and I was ready to leave by 11.05 am. I want to congratulate and thank the West of England Eye Unit for their prompt, efficient yet friendly and caring service. We are indeed lucky to have such a wonderful hospital.

Nuffield Health Exeter Hospital

Wonford Rd, Exeter EX2 4UG, UK – 01392 276591

My stay at the Nuffield Exeter hospital was absolutely faultless. Fantastic staff that offer you quality care and respect. The hospital is very welcoming and spotless! My aftercare since my op has been fab, very thorough. Amazing hospital, highly recommend

Coastal Recycling

1 Mulberry Court, Exeter EX2 8PW, UK – 01392 826456

A hotel owner for many years we used another refuse disposal company. Retiring last year we decided to make life easier and hire a smaller wheeled bin from a local company. The bin fitted conveniently into a tiny area of our garden. No need for a weekly collection where you pay even if the bin is almost empty - have a collection every couple of weeks or so for no extra charge. One is obliged to pay for this service of course but it is not out of this world. Good value for money, the benefits are considerable and well worth it. The office staff and the driver are always helpful and very polite. Wish we had known of this smaller and friendly company several years ago and it would have saved me a considerable amount.

Give and get free stuff. Here you will find lots of items that people are willing to give away, for FREE! This is instead of taking them to a local landfill site. The aim of this site is to reduce the amount of waste that goes to landfill (20.9 million tonnes of it last year in the UK) and recycling is great news for the environment.
We all know that we need to recycle more - and this is a great way of doing it.

Local Restaurants & Places to Eat around Exeter

Unit 8, Alphington Park, Marsh Barton Trading Estate, Ashton Road, Exeter EX2 8AA, UK – 01392 427541

Good food but had to wait for food to be served. Good for kids but having to wait ment the children got a little impatient and they were not provided with crayons or puzzles as other chains do. Good atmosphere. Change of staff half way through meaning our birthday cake was forgotten. Tried to phone later but they took ages to answer then they just put phone on one side and no one spoke. Then I tried calling back and they'd left the phone off the hook for 45 minutes ..

A very child friendly place to eat after a busy shopping trip in Exeter. Always able to be accommodated and the staff are always keen to help you get what you want. Would highly recommend and also NUS discount is available which really makes a difference.

Côte Brasserie - Exeter

19-21 Cathedral Yard, Exeter EX1 1HB, UK – 01392 433406

A small but nice restaurant in the heart of Exeter, right opposite the Exeter Cathedral. Although the place is small there is cosy seating upstairs and also outside seating. The staff are very friendly and efficient. The menu is extensive and includes late breakfast. The breakfast menu is quite substantial with a traditional British breakfast, French breakfast and Eggs Benedict among others. They also serve cocktails and in the morning! The view is of the cathedral and the cathedral green. Highly recommended and a good place for people-watching.

Spent New Year's Eve here with friends and had a fantastic meal served with warmth and style. Also, very accommodating to the Gluten free member of our party.

Beefeater Countess Wear

398 Topsham Rd, Exeter EX2 6HE, UK – 01392 428000

Five star for service. Had a family meal early evening and the server, Natasha, could not have been more helpful or obliging. Food was great too.

Great meal and very fast friendly service. Our waiter Jake was very good. Would say if he served you there would be no problem.

Steiner Academy Exeter

Thomas Hall, Cowley Bridge Rd, Exeter EX4 5AD, UK – 01392 757371

Fantastic school. Both of my children attend and can't wait to get there each morning. Both are flourishing academically and socially since attending. Highly recommend especially if your children are not suited to the stress of mainstream schooling where they are pressured to hit textbook benchmarks starting at a ridiculously early age. Changing to Steiner Academy Exeter was the best decision we ever made for our family.

Saint Wilfrid's School

Exeter EX4, UK – 01392 276171

My 3 children attend St Wilfrid's School in Exeter and they love it. The school is small, and friendly and has a family-run feel to it. The small class sizes are fantastic as it means that my children get individual attention from their teachers and they are able to develop at their own rate. All the pupils know one another and the teachers are friendly and approachable. I could not recommend this school highly enough.
