Local Chambers of Commerce for EX1 1SE. These can be an extraordinarily effective way of getting into the business community and / or getting things done. Equally they can be entirely useless depending on the chair. If they have networking events associated with them definitely go, and keep going, if you have a business that need local support. What you put in is exactly what you get out. Below is the national site. Watch this slot - it might improve!
Exeter City Council

Civic Centre, Paris St, Exeter EX1 1JJ, UK – 01392 277888

Need to sort out their local housing priorities and stop building student accommodation everywhere in the centre. Apart from that, good

ECC Recycling Centre

Oakwood House, Exton Rd, Exeter EX2 8NR, UK – 01392 277888

Health and safety awareness , polite and knowledgeable, helpfull and more than capable to keep up with demands in industry

Certainly better now than ten years ago, staff are more helpful yet under more pressure in this PC and H&S society, the arrangement of waste types is good, sometimes have to ask where to put something and once I wasn't able to drop my waste (domestic) when the bin men missed my house one week. [ had to find alternative method]

Devon County Council

County Hall, Topsham Rd, Exeter EX2 4QD, UK – 0345 155 1004

Dental Surgeries

The Exeter Dental Centre

17 Castle St, Exeter EX4 3PT, UK – 01392 272350

What a fantastic Dental Centre! I have been a patient here since December 2014 and despite quite a bit of work, I actually enjoy the experience (mostly!). My previous dental experiences resulted in me not going very often. That is not the case anymore! Everyone who works at the Exeter Dental Centre is wonderful, the ladies on reception are warm and welcoming; my dentist Ruarri is approachable, friendly and very professional; Jan my hygienist has a fantastic holistic approach offering a wealth of advice. My dental experience has changed 100%. Thank you all.

Very friendly staff, from booking throughout the experience everyone working here seems focused on providing a comfortable and stress-free environment. The reception is bright and modern and includes complimentary wifi. Exam rooms feel private and peaceful. And the dentist and assistants aim to put you at ease. The whole visit felt more like I was entering a luxury hotel; all the anxieties I usually experience when visiting a dentist just disappeared. Very impressed and I would recommend this place to anyone looking to switch or join a dentist. They also offer a very good value for money membership.

Barnfield Dental Studio

10A Barnfield Hill, Exeter EX1 1SR, UK – 01392 423668

I've always hated going to the dentist after having bad experiences in South Africa with a dentist threatening to cut my thumb off if I continued to suck it(!!) and then having some pretty traumatic dental work when I was a teenager. Before an appointment I used to have sleepless nights, panic attacks, crying, the lot, and always needed someone to come in with me. Since seeing Dalene I don't dread going at all. In fact I look forward to seeing her as she is so kind, compassionate, gentle and understanding of my fears. I know I can trust her implicitly which means I can relax in the chair. The reception staff and nurses are always really lovely too.

Incredible service you have given me a Smile I am happy with something I have had not been able to do for 30 years! I actually enjoy coming to visit you Darlene and your team. Like so many of us I had horrific experience as a child, I have had dentist since then that have done average work but over the years the work had not enhanced me an quite frankly hated smiling for photographs.i have been to 2 different private practices thinking they could sort me out but never felt at ease especially as I was told work carried out could have problems and might need surgery that would cost many thousands! I decided to contact an eminent Dentist in London I knew about 30 years ago, I never had treatment with him due to the cost at the time, he has gone on to teach cutting edge advanced techniques having dentists travelling from America and beyond. He gave me Darlene details as she has been on his super advance courses and thought she was really good, if the God of Dentisty recommended I thought I would give it a try. Well Darlene has managed to sort out my horrid teeth without out costing a fortune and surgery.I have never had any pain or discomfort and have not had to have as many crowns as the other dentists in Exeter said I would need.I had a check up yesterday and have had no treatment needed this time apart from a bit of tarter! My electric toothbrush has stopped working and Darlene told me the shop with the best deal is to buy a new one. I have recommended Darlene and everyone is so impressed with the treatment and techniques. My husband had continued to go th the Southernhay for a while but eventually started going to Darlene and has said he can understand why in his words kept banging on why he should change dentists. If like me you have not enjoyed the Dentist or wants a honest ethical and fair price and leading edge non gimmick treatment Barnfield Dental Studio will not let you down.

Pinhoe Dental Centre

St Leonards Medical Practice

Athelstan Rd, St Leonards, Exeter EX1 1SB, UK – 01392 201790

Best surgery in Exeter. Positive and helpful doctors and nurses. Nothing is too much trouble. Even got seen quite quickly when registering our new born. Very impressed

I have been with the practice since birth, my Dr is really thorough he Truely is one of the best I have been very fortunate to have Dr Evans as my G.P.. I only have praise for the practice nothing negative at all. The reception staff are wonderful too. Thank you to all of you for your hard work and dedication .

The South Lawn Medical Practice

Heavitree Heath Centre, South Lawn Terrace, Exeter EX1 2RX, UK – 01392 281101

Southlawn Medical Practice has provided a professional, confidential, efficient service for me since 2005, with genuine sensative and kind GP's. I am pleased to say that it is the best Medical Practice that I have ever been registered with, and as a 'healthcarer' myself I can TRUST my GP's implicatly with my 'health' needs, and my secure: personal and private information. I am infact planning to move house in the near future and will endeavour to move within the 'Practice' catchment area, as I sincerely beleive that to change now: would jeopardize my health and sanity.

NHS Direct is now NHS 24. Just dial 111 to speak to a professional or click the link below for there self help website. Lots of really useful info but keep clear of heart surgery! If in doubt ask your GP or call 111. Good luck.

Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital

Barrack Rd, Exeter EX2 5DW, UK – 01392 411611

I opted to go to Exeter as my local hospital lost my referral for the 3rd time. Best choice I have ever made. I needed some corrections to plastic surgery and my experience at Exeter has been outstanding. I have received appointments exactly when they were due. I have been treated by staff as if I was a member of their family but also professional and compassionately. I have experienced staff go out of there way to show me where to go and seen them show genuine concern at discharging someone without someone to care for them. I have a lot of respect for all hospital staff and I have experienced several hospitals even private ones none has impressed me as much. Keep up the brilliant work. I am thrilled by my results from surgery. Thank you.

Couldn't be more appreciative for the timely and effective treatment my little baby recieved which relieved her suffering. The staff on pediatric ressus and on Bramble ward were absolutely great and worked so hard to help my baby. Thank you.

This recycling centre is an example to all other centres . Not only is it clean and tidy but the staff are so helpful and pleasant. What a difference from Exmouth! I think they should retrain at Pinbrook. Many thanks.

Visited here for the first time today. I was told that the staff here are a lot friendlier than the other one in Marsh Barron, which is very true! They are very friendly and helpful!

Devon Contract Waste Ltd

Enviro Hub, Marsh Barton Rd, Exeter EX2 8NU, UK – 01392 361300

Give and get free stuff. Here you will find lots of items that people are willing to give away, for FREE! This is instead of taking them to a local landfill site. The aim of this site is to reduce the amount of waste that goes to landfill (20.9 million tonnes of it last year in the UK) and recycling is great news for the environment.
We all know that we need to recycle more - and this is a great way of doing it.

Local Restaurants & Places to Eat around Exeter

Forn Tapas Bar & Restaurant

14 Mary Arches St, Exeter EX4 3AZ, UK – 01392 259950

Great decor, we were the only ones eating at 2:30 on a Friday so service wasn't an issue and the tapas was some of the best I've had and I've eaten very well in Bilbao and Mijas...highly recommended!

Best place to go to on a weekend. Authentic Spanish atmosphere and amazing drinks. Hidden gem!!

Hatts Bar & Restaurant

11 Gandy St, Exeter EX4, UK – 01392 434184

Decent portions at sensible prices. Better than the restaurant chains everyone else seems to flock to. One of our favourite lunch stops.

Love this place. Excellent food and drink. Nice quite place to eat drink and relax.

7 Haven Rd, Exeter EX2 8BP, UK – 01392 490555

Great food great stuff well worth the money

Mixed experiences here. I've been in before now and the lights in the gents have been hanging out of the ceiling. On a Tuesday afternoon visit - when the place has been nearly empty - we've had incredibly slow service, dirty crockery and grubby glasses. Even been sat at dirty tables that haven't been relaid, whilst there are clean tables all around. The food, however, has been very good. On the other hand, we've also visited at peak time during the summer holidays and had excellent service, the place has been clean and tidy. Seems to just be the luck of the draw which you get.

Nursery and Preschools

Kiddi Caru Day Nursery

Emperor Way, Exeter Business Park, Exeter EX1 3QS, UK – 01392 445639

Our little boy loves it. The staff are always friendly and the place is always clean. Great variety of food. Its the best nursery/preschool we viewed around this side of Exeter when looking.

Munchkins Day Nursery Ltd

2 Mount Radford Cres, Exeter EX2 4EN, UK – 01392 498814

Amazing place. Best childcare around. Staff are fantastic and the facilities are great.

Cedars Pre -School

Northbrook Cl, Exeter EX4 8LD, UK – 01392 277682

My four year old son has been going to Cedars (and the nursery before it, now called Beacon Nursery) since he was 7 months old. The day to day care that is provided is second to none. He has a lovely relationship with his key worker and the other workers too. They are like a second family with him. At Cedars they nurture positive relationships with the carers and between the children themselves too. They have a fantastic range of activities available from the usual sand and water to baking to having people coming in to do screen printing. The garden there is fantastic too and the children spend lots of time outdoors. They have a very progressive, child-focused approach to child-care. The workers are very engaged and highly qualified or working towards qualifications. Home-cooked meals are available that my son loves and they cater for his dairy intolerance. In short this is a wonderful childcare setting.

Fabulous Nursery and Pre-School! My daughter has been attending from a baby until her graduation this month. Amazing facilities, extensive gardens, committed nursery nurses and an overall wonderful place to grow a little mind :)

Primary and Secondary Schools

Steiner Academy Exeter

Thomas Hall, Cowley Bridge Rd, Exeter EX4 5AD, UK – 01392 757371

Fantastic school. Both of my children attend and can't wait to get there each morning. Both are flourishing academically and socially since attending. Highly recommend especially if your children are not suited to the stress of mainstream schooling where they are pressured to hit textbook benchmarks starting at a ridiculously early age. Changing to Steiner Academy Exeter was the best decision we ever made for our family.

Saint Wilfrid's School

Exeter EX4, UK – 01392 276171

My 3 children attend St Wilfrid's School in Exeter and they love it. The school is small, and friendly and has a family-run feel to it. The small class sizes are fantastic as it means that my children get individual attention from their teachers and they are able to develop at their own rate. All the pupils know one another and the teachers are friendly and approachable. I could not recommend this school highly enough.
